Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Lesson

As you may know, a popular book to read to little people is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. It is clever and has a nice little jingle you can sing along with it. Well, today I have some Chicka Chicka boom boom fun! I have  Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Lesson ideas! Now… I have to be honest with you.  I do have a gripe with the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom book.  Every time I read it I am bothered that they do not use both upper and lower case letters!  I always want there to be upper case letters in the tree and lower case letters on the ground and I want the lower case letters to find the upper case letters. So, in this Chicka Chicka Boom Boom lesson, I will make sure that you get to match upper and lower case letters.

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Lesson Ideas - Great for preschool or kindergarten!

So let’s get started!  Here are some ideas for a Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Lesson!

Game – Have a bulletin board with the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Tree on it.  Have upper case letters on the tree and have lower case letters with velcro on them down for the children to use.  Have the children choose a letter and run and put it on the tree, next to the correct upper case letter.  You can make it a relay race!

Craft -Make a T is for Tree Craft!

Craft-Another Chicka Chicka Boom Boom craft idea, using a toilet paper roll and some newspaper

Craft/Game –Here is another Chicka Chicka boom boom craft/game idea…  and, of course I love this one because it matches upper and lower case letters!

SnackMake this cute snack involving a banana, kiwi and cheerios 

Letter Stamps -Have students stamp the upper and lower case letters onto a tree!  Have them stamp the upper case letters on top and the lower case letters on the bottom.

Math Activities –  Students can count how many letters (or coconuts) they put in a tree.  They could do a cut/paste game with numbers:  Cut and paste 5 coconuts into the tree.

Worksheet – Do a fun Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Matching worksheet!  You can match the upper and lower case letters in a fun cut and paste activity!  Students cut and paste the lower case letters to the matching upper case letters in the tree!
