Halloween Phonics Worksheet: Pumpkin Color by Letter

It is spooky Halloween time!  It is a great time to learn the letter j!  There are not many “J” words out there that children know or use.   Juice…jump rope…Jack-o-Lantern!  Today I have a fun Halloween Phonics Worksheet -a Color by Letter Jack-o-Lantern activity (and yes, one of the letters to color is J!)  Before we get started, I always like to give a book recommendation.  A GREAT book to go along with this activity is Pumpkin Jack.  Pumpkin Jack is about a child who carves a pumpkin into a Jack-o-Lantern and then decides to toss the pumpkin  when it is beginning to rot into the garden.    After that, Tim watches to see what happens next to his pumpkin!  It is a great lesson on the life cycle of a pumpkin!

Madreen Karle is a master first grade reading teacher with over 30 years of classroom experience. She taught reading in a special needs and English as a Second Language classroom. Meeghan Karle Mousaw (Madreen’s daughter) has her Master’s in Special Education. She has 8 years experience teaching children to read online. In addition, she developed a curriculum to teach children handwriting called The Handwriting Patch. With the Handwriting Patch learning is fun because children learn to draw and learn handwriting at the same time. In 2019 The Handwriting Patch curriculum became an amazon best seller the first year it was released, helping thousands of kids learn handwriting with a unique, fun method. She is mom to 6 kids, each with differently learning abilities and struggles.
The Reading Patch was established by the creators of Mrs. Karle’s Sight and Sound Reading. Together they have been featured on the NBC media outlets and Parents Magazine online. Over the last 8 years in their online platform, Madreen and Meeghan have worked tirelessly with teachers, homeschoolers and parents looking to help children learn to read to become a trusted authority in teaching children to read and advocating early literacy skills.     1. Sorry about that! I get a handful of emails each day with “problems” with downloads. I don’t know why it does it to some and not others… seems very random. Sorry you had a trouble.  Sometimes for some reason the link does not come hyperlinked.  When that happens, you have to copy/paste the link into your browser and it will download into your download folder.  I think this is what happened to you. Does this work for you?    If not, let me know/email me at [email protected] and I will make sure you get the activity!
