When teaching a child to write correctly, make sure you first teach the student how to hold a pencil correctly!

One thing to keep in mind, though, is that while it is important to help teach a child how to write the letters correctly, it is equally important that you have your child physically practice writing with a pencil and practice correct pencil grip because so many children are getting to school and not knowing how to hold a pencil because they are just using their finger on a tablet.  The tool I recommend using to help teach correct pencil grip is below.

Madreen Karle is a master first grade reading teacher with over 30 years of classroom experience. She taught reading in a special needs and English as a Second Language classroom. After retiring she wrote a reading program to help others learn how to teach reading. She is a trusted educator and author of 5 books to help teach children to read and write. Through her teaching she learned that confidence was the key to learning to read. A child who is not confident at reading does not like to read and struggles to read. Mrs. Karle created “sunshine moments” to help teach children how to grow their confidence and learn to read.
Meeghan Karle Mousaw (Madreen’s daughter) has her Master’s in Special Education. She has 8 years experience teaching children to read online. In addition, she developed a curriculum to teach children handwriting called The Handwriting Patch.     I am trying to download the preschool handwriting worksheets. It appears the only way to do is with with software that reconfigures my Chrome settings so that online forms is some sort of default menu across the top. Can I receive this download without changing the Chrome settings?

    1. Hi there, Sorry you are having trouble. I am guessing that maybe you are clicking on an ad on my site…because it should not reconfigure any chrome settings. Sometimes people have issue b/c they don’t realize they are clicking on an ad by mistake. You have to enter your name/email into the blue form on the site and then it automatically gets sent to you. I will do that for you now. Let me know if you don’t get the download.

Then…. check your spam folder…sometimes things go there. The freebie has a subject of “Here is your free download!” …Inside that email there is a link. That link, if you click on it, the download will either popup in a new tab or download into your download folder. Sometimes that link does not come hyperlinked.
